During meditation, we connect with love, joy and gratitude. We open new doors and manifest healing and transformation. We connect with our truth and ground into our most soulful self. Meditations heal our nervous system, reduce stress, and develop our ability to remain centered and grounded in our truth when life presents challenges. Through meditation and the breath, we become our own healer and realize our best selves.
Through various breath practices, and by using the breath during movement, such as yoga, isometric exercises, and conscious somatic movement, we retrain our breath to increase CO2 tolerance, lower blood pressure, increase vasodilation, improve heart and lung health, strengthen and tone muscles, ligaments and tendons, and more.
We heal through joy and movement. Soma includes dance, shaking, and yoga designed to create a state of joy and freedom where we break through limiting beliefs.

Visualization is used to guide meditators to release anxiety and stress and to create change and a space for healing. It is also used for manifesting a new way of being, or a new opportunity. We practice creating feelings of gratitude and joy, teaching our DNA and our bodies that we are safe, whole and healthy. Many have used Soma Breath Meditations to heal themselves of trauma, physical pain, and engage in a happy, healthy lifestyle and make better choices. Others use it to connect with their higher selves and the divine. It is also used it to improve focus, improve physical performance, and to access inner guidance.
We use many different breath rhythms to connect, relax, release and heal. During meditations, we breath in through the nose and out through the mouth in a gentle rhythmic pattern. Along with the music, you will hear a count to guide you. In some cases, we will breath out for longer than we breath in, using a 2:4 or 4:8 rhythm, to create a relaxed state and access the parasympathetic nervous system. This helps us reduce inflammation, relieve anxiety and stress, and access deep healing states. In other tracks we will use the 4:4 rhythm, breathing in for 4 and out for 4 to create coherence. Creating coherence in the heart, mind, and body increases focus, resets the brain. If we are manifesting or building energy, we may breath in and out at a faster pace, perhaps breathing in and out of the mouth using a 2:2 or 1:1 rhythm. In all cases, you are guided with counting, music, and visualization.
After each round of rhythmic breathing, we offer a breath hold on the exhale, and then on the inhale. During Baya Kumbhaka, you empty your lungs for 30 seconds to 2-3 minutes. You will be guided to take sips of air as needed,. After Baya Kumbhaka, we engage in Antara Kumbhaka, which is a breath retention with full lungs. If you choose not to engage in breath holds, you simply breath at your own rhythm. While breath holds build CO2 tolerance and allow us to access deep healing states, each person must engage at their level of comfort and can choose not to engage in the breath hold or take as many sips of air as needed. When working with teens, breath holds are not offered until I know a teen well and am confident that they are appropriate.
All participants can participate in the visualization and rhythmic breathing, and breath holds are safe, and beneficial, for most individuals. Breath holds and faster rhythms (2:2 or 1:1) are contraindicated for people in the following situations:
Additionally, some participants with the following conditions should see their doctor to gain approval for breath holds and faster rhythms:
You may breath rhythmically, or breath at your own pace instead of doing the breath holds and faster rhythms.
Breath work should be done under the following conditions:

When I did Aiyana’s Transformation Journey series, things really started to shift for me. The consistency of the program really made a difference since consistency has always been an issue for me. Really dedicating myself to her program was a huge step.
Years ago, I had an amazing therapist who asked, “Where are you,” in my sense of myself. I told her that I was at the bottom of an inverted tower reaching down into the earth (probably better pictured as a well). At the bottom of this tower, it was dark. A void. I was just a little girl in the emptiness of the void. The tower walls reaching up endlessly. No steps. No light. Just emptiness. Over the years, I’ve tried to work on getting out of that tower. I’ve done more therapy, I’ve done visualization… And, while I do believe that there have been a lot of times where I found a way to function as if I was not there, or found steps here and there or found a small bit of light to brighten my way through this life, I had never really left the void at the bottom of that tower. The core of myself still lived in that empty void. During the 3rd week of Aiyana’s series something really shifted for me. I was laying on the floor and trying to focus on my breathing. And, my dark tower dissolved, just slowly melted into the light of a Spring meadow surrounded by trees with a stream running through it. There were no steps to climb. I didn’t have to visualize light coming into the tower. The light was just there, soft, golden, warm. There wasn’t any struggle find the light anymore. I was just in it, safe. Whole. And throughout the next few days, I found my older self in the meadow, in the light with my little self and eventually some other perspectives of myself… As if they were all coming together. By the end of the series, I felt like I had found so much more of myself, like the pieces of my life were starting to fit together in some sort of more tangible way. I feel like I spent most of my life trying to build a foundation in the void and now my foundation is in the light. And for the first time in 10 years, I found myself in a place that allows me to face the abuse perpetrated by my husband on myself and my children. I’ve wanted to face it. But, never felt like I could face it and “live” my life. I felt like it was too big, that when I opened that door, it would overwhelm me so much that I wouldn’t be able to go to work or do the daily things that life requires. I wanted to have time to go to the mountains to sit with it, work through it where I was safe. But, now, I’m feeling like I can take it a little at a time without having to check out on my life. Maybe now, I have the strength to integrate that pain, that anger, and that fear, without drowning in it. And move forward. Free. In the light. Whole.
I’m so grateful for this opportunity to face myself and be with myself with a gentleness and grace that I didn’t know was possible. Thank you, Aiyana.
My move from Santa Fe to Illinois was very stressful. It’s a different energy, climate & vibe and it was affecting me both emotionally and physically. - Dare I say spiritually as well. This is a shout out to Aiyana Pendleton who I’ve now had four healing sessions with via Zoom.
I didn’t know that much about Soma breathwork, but I’m finding it an amazing tool for emotional and physical healing. Additionally, Aiyana puts together personal packages that include body movement, meditation techniques, sound healing and even Reiki (yep, I trained her🙏🏻🙂). I feel like we’ve worked through some major blocks, and I have more energy and some awesome new techniques to add to my own healing tool kit.
I’ve taken tons of classes with so many different energy workers and I have to say Aiyana is the real deal. Her commitment to her clients is incredible. Thank you Aiyana ❤️
Thanks so much for providing the well-thought out exercises and meditations! Starting with the Soma Breath Quiz and all that it revealed was so interesting and insightful! The first "aha moment" occurred when I made connections between diet and health. It has helped the digestive issue I was having at the time. I have taken up the practice of the alternate nostril breathing while quietly sitting with my horse before our rides. I also use the 4-8 and the 4-8-4 while sitting with the horse as he eats. It has been very helpful and grounding and seems to get me into a quiet, reliable nervous system state and calms my horse as well. Our training sessions are more productive as a result. The release sequence exercise video is now my favorite 10-15 min thing to do in the mornings, I have been doing that and/or the block therapy exercises pretty regularly. I look forward to getting into more of all the resources you have provided and t is great to have all of it available. I am super impressed and thankful for all of it, and I will continue to use it. I love that I will be able to go back to the meditations we did together, especially the one that we did together last week. Thanks! It has all been fantastic and very helpful! I will keep you posted as things progress and unwind.

“I am fairly new to meditation and breath work. I find the relaxing guidance of these meditations extremely soothing and grounding. It has served as a reminder that I am part of a whole. Reacquainting myself to my connection to the universe and earth around me has given room for much needed emotional healing. I am much more aware of my breathing patterns during the day and have found that the soma breath work has been helpful in strengthening my lung capacity. The healing that I have experienced has been physical, emotional and spiritual. I am so grateful for the gentle guidance these have given me.” Gabriela

I experienced a profound break through in an important relationship ... which was a recovery from a intense break down just two days before. I am confident that the work with you at least contributed to this. I was able to find the deeper level within to get to truth ... what I needed and wanted to do to make amends, claim my 'work area' that calls for attention, and what I learned about myself ... most importantly, what is changing in me that is still is mysterious, but nevertheless is afoot ... growing more soul, becoming a greater vessel, for the flow of life.

Ms. Pendleton's meditation has been helpful, fun, and a good tool to have during challenging times. I used the "Overcoming Performance Anxiety" meditation for the first time before a big speech, and I continue to use it before all of my tests. Throughout the entire practice I felt engaged and felt my mind and body returning to a calm state. I applied the breath technique until I began my speech, and I have continued to apply it before athletic competitions. The use of music got me excited to speak, and it was such a cool experience and feeling. I was terrified to speak in front of a crowd and after the meditation I was ready, excited, and in tune with what my body needed. This is something I will be using for my upcoming exams as well. I was a student in Aiyana Pendleton's ninth-grade math class. It was nearing finals week, and Ms. Pendleton offered to host a meditation. The night before finals, we all gathered in a zoom room to do a meditation. Honestly, it was amazing. I had been stressed out all day, but during the meditation, my mind went silent The method of breathing was so relaxing and mind clearing. When it was over, I was much less stressed out than I was before. The next day, my finals were the best final I had ever had. Not only my scores, but also in terms of being able to not be extremely stressed out all day!
I have never been a person who enjoys meditating, but after participating in one of Aiyana's meditations the morning before taking my final exams, I changed my mind. Despite the stress of the exams and the fact that I had only gotten 2 hours of sleep the night before, I have probably never felt as calm or relaxed as I did during and after the meditation. I still felt the calming effects of the meditation even as I took the exams, and as it turned out, I did better on both of my final exams that day than on any of the four other exams I had taken previously (without a meditation). Thank you, Aiyana!

The style of meditation is relaxing and invigorating at the same time. It connects me with my body and breath, which I find important for my mental and physical health. It helps me alleviate stress and tension." Embree

"I had a very intense evening and your meditation took me to a place of peace and contentment. I was able to let it all go. Your voice was so in tune with the cadence of the music that it really took me deeper into the meditation. It just really flowed for me. I was left in a state of peace and relaxation afterwards."
